When news of the Motorola Xoom hit the mainstream, excitement filled the air as people believed we had a product to rival the iPad 2. However, a series of mistakes including a poor judgement on the market led to just over 400,000 sales. When compared to iPad sales of over 9 million, it can be seen as a failure.
Despite this, Motorola went back to the drawing board and we now have news of the Motorola Kore. Although Motorola haven’t released anything themselves, they have registered five different domain names that all revolve around the word ‘Kore’. Are they preparing for the launch of a new device? It does seem odd that they would purchase five related domain names if they didn’t correspond to anything at all.
Other than this, we don’t have too much more for you but it could be a wise move to differentiate any new product from the failed Xoom name. All we know so far is that, regardless of the name, the tablet is set to feature NVIDIA’s Kal-El processors as well as a 4:3 aspect ratio.
With Apple’s following remaining strong, it remains to be seen whether Motorola or any other company can really take on the technology giant. Depending on how long development and production takes, Apple could even have number three on the way soon after.
